Learn to Skate
Our Learn to Skate program is geared towards skaters in the beginning stages of their ice career. We have youth of all ages join this program and some do it several times before gaining the confidence to be independent on the ice.
Our program offers a low skater to coach ratio and we are able to break into small groups by ability levels. Our coaches and volunteers are all registered with USA Hockey through our association. We are unable to allow parents or other family member volunteers on the ice during this event.
Often a skater will start here and then progress to the our House Hockey team if they have interest in hockey or more challenging skating. We also encourage everyone in Learn to Skate to attend as many Public Skates as possible - this is the time for family to join the skater on the ice!. Repetition and practice is the key to success.
Some Notes:
*Please arrive 30 minutes early the first day and 15-30 minutes early after than.
*We do not allow anyone on the ice except BAHA Volunteers.
*Wear Mittens! Also, snow pants or sweats and a bike helmet
The first 10 minutes will be free time, then skills, then the last 10 minutes is fun and games to practice those skills! Remember! Be early so you don't miss out on the free time!
